Our regular skating season runs from the beginning of October to the beginning of March.
The various programs include:
CanSkate (Levels 1 to 4)
Canada’s only national “Learn to Skate” program
The program teaches basic skating skills, focusing on fun, rhythmic exercises. The program is delivered by N.C.C.P. qualified coaches, with help from club-trained Program Assistants.
Pre-Junior Academy (CanSkate Levels 4 to 7)
Group lessons provide the next level of skills. This program develops a balance of skating competencies focusing on skills, dance, spins, jumps and turns.
STARSkate Figure Skating
Continuing to build on skating experience, skaters learn a wide range of figure skating skills, and to work independently. Skaters may decide to complete Skate Canada endorsed tests and competitions.
CanPower
Starting with basic skills, this program is designed to develop skating technique, power, agility, balance and endurance. The program improves the skills of current hockey players.
Pre-Power: This session is for hockey players in the First Year Senior Novice, or lower levels
CanPower: This session is for hockey players in the Second Year Senior Novice, or higher levels
Adult Skate for Fitness
The program offers a fun environment to learn new on-ice exercises and to develop more skating skills.
Additional Programs
Jumpstart Session
This session runs before the regular season, and provides STARSkate and Pre-Junior skaters of our club an opportunity to get back into skating after taking a summer break. Skating is every day Monday to Friday for approximately 2 weeks.
Spring School Session
This session runs after the regular season has ended. Skating sessions are held every day Monday to Friday for approximately 5 weeks, and are open to all skaters in our club, new skaters and skaters from other clubs. The sessions provide skaters with additional time to work on their skating skills, and an opportunity to take tests in any of the skating disciplines before the summer break.
